Dig this hearty appetizer: deli ham with cream cheese, onion, toasted walnuts, and peppers. It's easy to make ahead and keep in the refrigerator!

Equipment

  • 1 Chefs Knife
  • 1 Small Bowl
  • 1 Cutting Board

Ingredients
  

  • 8 oz Softened Cream Cheese
  • 8 slices Deli Ham (or Turkey)
  • 1 lg Bell Pepper
  • ½ tbsp Parsley
  • ½ tsp Dill Weed
  • ¼ tsp Ground Black Pepper
  • ¼ tsp Garlic Powder
  • â…“ cup Toasted Walnuts finely Chopped Substitute finely chopped Gherkin pickles
  • ½ tsp Minced Onion
  • ¼ tsp Onion Powder

Instructions
 

  • Place the softened cream cheese in a small bowl. Add the parsley, dill weed, onion powder, pepper, and garlic powder and mix well until combined.
  • Dice the bell pepper then add to the cream cheese mixture along with the walnuts and onion: stir
  • Take a slice of deli meat and spread a portion of the cream cheese mixture (approximately two tablespoons) on each ham slice.
  • Roll the slice of meat into a log, then wrap it in aluminum foil or plastic wrap. Refrigerate for two hours.
  • Slice each roll into one-inch pieces. Each roll makes approximately 5-6 appetizers.
  • Serve Cold

Notes

This simple recipe has many variations. If you don’t have some of the ingredients, substitute with what you have. You can roll olives, a small pickle, or fresh spinach in the center of each roll.  Cut a cucumber into thin rounds, and place each roll on top to serve on their own mini-cucumber plate!
